Unlike many attorneys out there, I did not know I was destined for a career in the legal field. In fact, from a young age, I had my sights set on something a bit more magical.
Growing up, my family frequently vacationed in Orlando, Florida and we spent the majority of our time at the happiest place on Earth. So, it came as no shock to my parents when at five years old I told them that I wanted to work for Walt Disney World. After receiving my Bachelor’s degree from Coastal Carolina University, I kept my promise and headed for the sunshine state just two days after graduation.
From day one I was immersed in a world of wonder and fairytales. The most exciting part of my new career, however, was that after so many years of being a guest at the parks and resorts, I now had the privilege of being part of the team that made the magic come alive. During my time at Disney, I learned the secret to creating a unique, unforgettable experience for all who came to visit, discovering what it truly meant to make dreams come true. The key was taking the time to listen to the stories that each guest had to tell. From these stories, I was able to make recommendations specifically tailored to the families I interacted with, as well as find creative ways to make their stay better than they even imagined.
After my adventure at Disney ended, I knew the opportunity to work with people and listen to their stories was far from over. I took what I learned at Disney, as well as in law school at the University of South Carolina, to carefully craft a legal experience that fits for my clients, no matter what situation they may be facing. I now see that not every tale has a picture perfect ending, but it can still be the right one. It is my job to guide clients through their story and make the experience of separation and divorce better than they could have hoped. And maybe, just maybe, help them find a little magic again.
